Privacy policy
KiwiVehicle has no plate, VIN, driver-licence or identity lookup form. Our calculators run in your browser and do not send their answers to us. The web server still receives the technical information needed to deliver a page, and Google AdSense may use cookies or other identifiers when advertising is active. We do not currently run a separate first-party analytics product. If you email us, we receive the address and content you choose to send.
KiwiVehicle is designed as a guide, not a record-search service. The distinction matters: we explain which official transaction or check solves a problem, then send you to the organisation responsible for it. We do not ask you to route vehicle or identity data through us first.
This policy describes the current site as built and reviewed on 12 August 2026. It does not claim that a static website creates no data at all; loading any page requires a network request.
Information we deliberately do not request
There is no field on KiwiVehicle for a registration plate, VIN, driver licence number, date of birth, identity document or payment card. We do not operate a vehicle database and cannot see NZTA, Police, PPSR, insurer or licensing-agent records.
When a task requires one of those details, the page should identify the official destination before you leave. The official service then collects the information under its own privacy notice. Check the domain before entering anything, especially after following an advertisement or a text message.
Do not email us a plate, VIN, licence number, notice number, photograph of an ID, payment card or medical record. We cannot use it to open an official record or complete a transaction for you. If a message already contains sensitive information, ask us to delete it.
What happens when a page loads
Your browser sends the information needed to retrieve the page. This normally includes the requested address, an IP address, time, browser or device information, and a referring address when the browser supplies one. The hosting provider may retain security and request logs for a limited period under its own operational controls.
KiwiVehicle does not currently add a separate first-party analytics product such as a custom visitor profile or session-replay tool. Google AdSense can provide aggregate advertising reporting when advertising is active. We will revise this page before intentionally adding a different measurement service.
What the interactive tools do
The current calculators and decision tools execute in the browser. Their inputs are not sent to KiwiVehicle, an API or a storage service, and no account is created. Reloading or closing the page clears the current answers.
That promise applies to tools carrying the KiwiVehicle interface. A link that opens an official site is a different service. Read the destination address and its privacy notice before entering personal or vehicle information.
Advertising and third parties
The site is configured to use Google AdSense. When ads are active, Google and participating advertising partners may receive a request from your browser and may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver, limit and measure advertising. Depending on your location and Google's configuration, a Google consent message may appear before non-essential advertising storage is used.
Those advertising systems are governed by Google's notices and controls. Blocking or declining non-essential advertising storage does not prevent you reading any KiwiVehicle page or using a local calculator. See the cookie policy for the practical controls.
An advertisement is not an editorial recommendation. Do not put an official notice number, plate, licence number or payment detail into an advertiser's form simply because it appeared beside one of our articles.
Email and access requests
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to include. We use them to answer or investigate the issue. We do not add the address to a newsletter list.
New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 governs personal information. You may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Contact the address above with enough context to identify your message, but do not send an identity document unless we explain why it is genuinely necessary. You may also ask us to delete an email; legal or security reasons may sometimes require a limited record to be retained.
Changes and contact
If the collection or advertising setup changes, the explanation and review date on this page must change too. Report a privacy concern through the contact page. For an official vehicle or driver record, contact the organisation that holds it rather than KiwiVehicle.
