Short answer

Write to [email protected] about anything wrong on this site: a rule that has changed, a dead link, a source that has moved, a page that misled you. We cannot help with your actual records. We are not NZTA and have no access to any register, so we cannot check, correct or speed up anything. Please do not send us your plate, licence number, VIN or any identity document — we do not want them and cannot use them.

The address is [email protected]. It is the only channel we run, and it is read by the editorial team rather than by a support desk.

Before you write, it is worth being clear about which of two very different things you need, because we are genuinely useful for one and completely useless for the other.

What writing to us can achieve

We can fix this site. That covers more than typos.

Tell us a rule has changed and we will check it against the official source and update the page. Tell us a link is dead or now lands somewhere unrelated and we will repoint it. Tell us an address or a set of details we publish has gone stale and we will re-verify it or remove it. Tell us a page was confusing, buried the thing you actually needed, or answered a question you were not asking, and that is genuinely useful — most of our rewrites start with someone saying a page did not help.

Corrections that could send someone to the wrong place or expose them to a fine are handled first, ahead of anything else in the queue. If you are telling us we have got a fine amount, a deadline or an eligibility rule wrong, say so plainly at the top of the message. Where you have the official page that proves the point, include it; it turns a day of checking into ten minutes.

You can also tell us about an advertisement that appeared on one of our pages and looked like a scam. Ads are served automatically by Google and its partners and are not chosen by us, so we often do not see what you saw. A screenshot and the page it appeared on gives us something to report.

What writing to us cannot achieve

We are not NZTA Waka Kotahi, the AA, VTNZ or any government body, and we have no agreement with any of them. That is not a disclaimer bolted on for legal comfort; it describes exactly what we can reach, which is nothing.

We cannot look up your vehicle, your rego status, your WoF expiry, your demerit points or your licence. We cannot see whether your ownership change went through, whether your plates have been dispatched or where your application has stopped. We cannot correct a record, cancel or reduce an infringement, restore a lapsed entitlement, book you a test or bring one forward. We cannot tell you when an online service that is down will come back, because nobody credible can. If a page you are reading here explains a problem, the fix for that problem always lives inside the official system, and the page will tell you which part of it to go to.

If your problem is with a specific inspection site, licensing agent or AA Centre, the complaint belongs with that organisation, not with us. We do not appoint them, oversee them or have any influence over what they do.

Please do not send us personal information

Never send us your plate number, driver licence number, VIN, date of birth, address, bank details or a photograph of any document. We do not ask for them, we cannot use them, and a plain email is not a secure place for them. If you have already sent something like that, send a follow-up asking us to delete it and we will.

This is the same instinct the rest of the site is built on. There is no lookup form anywhere on KiwiVehicle, no field asking for a plate, and no page that requires you to identify yourself. Someone dealing with a fine, an expired rego or a car purchase is exactly the person a data-harvesting operation goes after, and the safest way not to be that operation is never to hold the data at all. Our privacy policy sets out what we do and do not receive.

When you describe a problem, describe it generically. "My rego expired eight months ago and the renewal screen rejects it" tells us everything we need in order to see whether a page is missing. The plate adds nothing.

Nobody can be paid to fix this for you

Every transaction this site covers is free or a fixed official fee, and every one of them is something you do yourself, directly, with NZTA or an appointed agent. There is no paid fast lane, no private clearing service and no intermediary with a back channel.

So if anyone — by text, by phone, by email, through a social media message or through an advertisement — offers to expedite your licence, clear a fine, remove demerit points or fix a record in exchange for a fee, they are running a scam. Do not pay, and do not send them a licence number or a copy of an ID. The money is usually the smaller loss. Text scams impersonating NZTA follow this pattern closely enough to be worth recognising before one arrives.

What we do with your message

We use your email to reply to you and to fix whatever you have reported, and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or share the address, and we do not use it for advertising. Where a correction ends up published, it is published as a change to the page, never as your name or your details.

Frequently asked questions

Can you check my rego or WoF for me if I send you the plate?
No. We have no access to any official register and no way to look anything up, so a plate number tells us nothing and only puts your details in an inbox that does not need them. NZTA publishes free online checks for rego and WoF expiry, and those go straight to the source. Please delete the plate from your message before you send it.
How do I get an error on a page fixed?
Email [email protected] with the page address and what is wrong, ideally with the official page that shows the correct position. Errors that could send someone to the wrong place or expose them to a fine are dealt with ahead of everything else. When we change a page as a result, we update the review date on it.
My licence application is stuck. Can you chase it?
No, and nobody outside the official system can. We cannot see your application, contact anyone on your behalf or move you up a queue. The people who can are NZTA and the licensing agent who took your application, and going back to that same agent is usually faster than starting again elsewhere.
Do you reply to everything?
We read everything and we prioritise corrections. We are a small team, so a message that simply asks us to give personal advice about your own situation may not get a reply, particularly where answering it would mean guessing at facts only NZTA can confirm.
Someone is charging me a fee to sort out my fine. Should I pay?
No. Every transaction covered on this site is free or a fixed official fee that you pay directly to NZTA or an appointed agent. There is no private service that can clear a fine, expedite a licence or fix a record, so anyone charging for one is running a scam and is also collecting your personal details while they do it.
