Cookie policy
The current site has no login, account, shopping basket or separate first-party analytics product. Its local tools do not save your answers in a KiwiVehicle cookie. When Google AdSense advertising is active, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads. You can use browser controls or the consent message, when shown, without losing access to the content or tools.
A cookie is a small item a website asks a browser to retain. Similar outcomes can be produced by local storage, pixels or identifiers attached to a request. This policy uses “cookies” as a plain-language label for all of them unless a distinction changes what you can do.
The useful question is not whether the page contains the word cookie. It is which service sets or reads something, for what purpose, and whether the site still works when you decline it.
Current first-party behaviour
KiwiVehicle is a static informational site. There is no account, login, paid subscription, shopping basket or newsletter sign-up. The current build does not intentionally set a first-party analytics cookie, and it does not use session replay or create a visitor profile.
The interactive tools run in the open page. They do not store your answers in a KiwiVehicle cookie and do not send those answers to our server. Reloading the page starts the tool again.
Infrastructure used to deliver and protect the site can still process ordinary request data and may use technical storage. That operational processing is distinct from a KiwiVehicle account or marketing profile, neither of which exists.
Google AdSense
The site is configured for Google AdSense advertising. When ads are active, your browser may contact Google and participating advertising partners. They may use cookies or similar identifiers to:
- deliver an advertisement;
- limit how often the same advertisement appears;
- detect fraud and measure delivery or interaction; and
- personalise advertising where the law, Google's policies and your choices permit it.
The exact list can vary as Google's advertising system changes. A Google consent message may be shown in places where a choice is required. That message, your browser settings and Google's own privacy controls are the relevant places to allow, limit or withdraw advertising consent.
Declining or blocking non-essential advertising storage does not lock any KiwiVehicle article or calculator. Advertising may become less personalised, limited or absent, but the task guidance remains available.
What is not stored by our tools
KiwiVehicle does not ask a calculator for your plate, VIN, driver licence number or identity document. The values you do enter — for example, a month of first registration or a failed WoF date — stay in that page while it is open.
Links to NZTA, Police, PPSR or another official service leave KiwiVehicle. The destination may legitimately need a plate, identity or payment detail and has its own cookies and privacy terms. An advertisement also leaves the editorial site, but appearance beside an article does not make its destination official.
Your controls
If a consent message appears, use it to make or change the advertising choice offered there. You can also use the browser's privacy settings to block third-party cookies, clear stored site data, or restrict cross-site tracking. A private window usually deletes its local state when closed, subject to the browser's design.
Deleting all site data can also delete a stored consent preference, so a message may appear again. That does not mean the content requires cookies; it means the browser no longer remembers the choice.
Changes
This page describes the build reviewed on 12 August 2026. If KiwiVehicle adds analytics, accounts, saved results or another feature that changes browser storage, this policy and the privacy policy must be revised before the feature is treated as part of the live site.
